Former NDSU Baseball Shortstop, Bennett Hostetler was taken in the 18th round of the MLB draft by the Miami Marlins. Former Bison pitcher Parker Harm was also signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Royals.

Hostetler is the first Bison draft pick since catcher Juan Gamez was drafted in the 31st round of the 2016 draft by the Minnesota Twins. He becomes the 11th player drafted in school history and the sixth player drafted from NDSU in the last ten years.
in the 2021 season Hostetler batted .394 with ten homeruns, 58 RBIs, 52 runs and stole 19 bases. He only struck out 38 times in 213 at bats and walked 36 times. The Summit League named Hostetler the Male Athlete of the Month for both May and June.
Hostetler was named the Summit League Player of the Year after leading NDSU to a 38 win regular season including 20 wins in conference the most in school history. The Bison earned the two seed in the conference tournament and won the Summit League title for the second time in school history sending them to the Sanford Regional in the NCAA Tournament. The Bison earned their first NCAA tournament win in the D1 era with a 6-1 win over Nevada.
The Bison finished the season with a school record 42 wins going 42-19.
