Two good shows to kick off our week, some tidbits from both:
JIM NAGY, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE REESE’S SENIOR BOWL
Before the football stuff, Reese’s were my favorite candy growing up. I mean, unequivocally. I still love them Reese’s eggs around Easter. But I digress. Some nuggets from Jim Nagy:
- Had tweeted prior that NDSU LT Dillon Radunz was a Top 100 player in his eyes. When asked what stood out, Nagy said “Dillon jumps off the page at you, and that’s what we’re looking for when it comes to small school prospects. The first tape we put in was the game against Northern Iowa. Dillon looked really lean, really good athlete, played balanced, technically very sound, and played past the whistle.” To Nagy, he said the Senior Bowl would be big for Radunz. Also, playing the Oregon game and matching up with Kayvon Thibodeaux would be massive for Radunz.
- Nagy also mentioned that the Senior Bowl values NDSU when looking at NFL prospects. “NDSU is always going to be a place that we go to look for players.”
- Biggest thing on FCS prospects is level of competition that holds them back in scouting. Nagy said the lack of pro days due to the pandemic was the main reason for only six FCS draft picks in this past NFL Draft.
SAM HERDER, HERO SPORTS NATIONAL FCS WRITER
Today HERO Sports unveiled their Preseason Top 25 Poll and there was plenty to discuss. Big thanks to Sam and Brian McLaughlin for all their work on this:

NDSU is obviously #1, the question was who would be #2. SDSU and UNI were in the Top 3, followed by a surprise-Sacramento State at #4. Then JMU #5. Take a look at the poll above. My Top 5 would be:
#1 NDSU
#2 UNI
#3 Montana
# 4 SDSU
#5 Montana St
TIM BRANDO, FOX SPORTS
Always good to catch up with the great Tim Brando, and he told us how odd it was to be on the call of the final College Basketball game of the season in NYC when Creighton and St John’s finished the first half and didn’t come out for the final 20 minutes. Brando also discussed with us:
- He envisions football starting this season, but with limited capacity and seating. “If you have a 100,000 seat stadium, I could see 50,000 fans. A 60,000 seat stadium, I could see 25,000 fans.
- Mentioned the broadcasting world will be different, from the potential backup of events happening all at once in the Fall, to the way broadcasts are produced (pumped in crowd noise, virtual crowds, etc.)
- The announcement made by the Pac 12 yesterday that voluntary workouts could begin across their conference is a good thing for a normal football season. (Great for Bison fans to hear with the game at Oregon on Sep 5.)
TODD MCSHAY, ESPN NFL DRAFT ANALYST
Folks the Trey Lance hype train is on the tracks and is cooking along. Here’s what Todd McShay had to say about Lance in his Top 32 prospects of the 2021 NFL Draft:

Fun stuff for Trey, and a great thing for NDSU Football. Join us Thursday as Ryan O’ Halloran from the Denver Post and Dave Schwartz from KARE 11 TV in the Twin Cities stop by.
